Planning treatment from outside Edinburgh

Getting to your Edinburgh consultation

If you are arriving by train, Waverley station is next to Princes Street. Network Rail lists step-free access to all platforms, with lifts serving the Waverley Steps and Princes Street routes. Its station guide includes a map and Passenger Assist information. Check your route before travelling, especially if you depend on a lift.

Entrance, access and parking

Lift access is available at the Edinburgh and Glasgow consultation locations, Clarkston clinic and both St. Ellen’s surgical locations. Before you set off, check the entrance and reception instructions with our team. If you need a step-free route or help getting from a drop-off point to the appointment room, let us know when booking so we can confirm the arrangements.

If you are driving, check the council parking information for parking spaces and park-and-ride options. Ask the team about parking at your appointment venue rather than assuming a space is available.

What to bring

Bring your appointment confirmation, a list of medicines and allergies, and details of previous hair-loss treatment or surgery. Older photographs can help explain what has changed. It is also worth writing down the questions you want answered, including costs, recovery and what coverage may be achievable. Do not change prescribed medicines without advice from the treating clinician.

From an Edinburgh consultation to surgery

Your Edinburgh consultation and your operation are separate appointments. If you proceed, use the Glasgow or Livingston surgical location named on your booking confirmation; do not assume you will return to the consultation clinic for surgery.

Before booking transport or accommodation, confirm your surgery date, arrival time and hospital entrance with the team. Ask what to bring on the day, whether someone should accompany you, how to arrange your journey home and where your follow-up will take place.
